I’ve been trying to track down a small oil leak and I think Ifinally found it. First a story. When I did the 4-speed to 5-speedĀ conversion, I asked if there was supposed to be a gasket between the gearbox and the bellhousing. The answer from the web was no. Well, it seems there should be.
One of the operating rods for the transmission pokes through the front of the case and carries a small bit of oil withit every time you move the shift lever. Without the gasket it runs down the front of the gearbox an onto my garage floor. It looks like I’ll be pulling the engine out this winter. Maybe I’ll get the header Jet-Hot coated at the same time.
